While talking about a recent Slate article written by Aisha Harris on Santa Claus, Megyn Kelly stopped to simply say that Santa is white.

Harris had suggested in her article that perhaps there should be a more inclusive symbol of Christmas, and she suggested a penguin, reports Business Insider. She had also mentioned seeing a white Santa one place and a black Santa elsewhere.

So during The Kelly File, Kelly turned to the camera to say that Santa was white. "By the way, for all you kids watching at home, Santa is white but this person is just arguing that maybe we should also have a black Santa. Santa is what he is...I wanted to get that straight."

According to Mediate, Harris' reasoning for a new symbol was to "spare millions of nonwhite kids the insecurity and shame" she had as a child.

Kelly also added that "Jesus was a white man, too." The Fox News anchor also notes that Santa is a "historical figure," which helped make the segment kind of awkward.
