We open in the past as the Queen's curse is being initiated. She goes to visit Rumplestiltskin in his cell. He asks her what it felt like ripping out her father's heart for the curse. She replies that how it felt doesn't matter. Rumplestiltskin still thinks there is something missing, which the Queen denies. Rumplestiltskin then tells her that Snow White and Prince Charming's child can still break the curse and the Queen now has a hole in her heart that someday she'll need to fill. The Queen doesn't believe him but he then replies that she "underestimated what you've done." The Queen thinks Rumplestiltskin wants to make another deal because he wants to escape the curse but she tells him that she won't. He then replies, "Why would I want that? I'm exactly where I want to be."
Back to Neverland in the present. The gang can't revive Henry and Emma asks Pan what he did to him. Pan says that Henry gave him his heart of his own free will. Then goes to strike at Pan with her sword but he moves and tells Emma that he doesn't think she has it in her, just like Rumplestiltskin/Gold didn't. He then reveals that he put Gold in Pandora's Box and flies away. Regina then vows to get Henry home.
Flashback to 11 years ago in Storybrooke. Regina summons Archie, who senses that something is missing from Regina's life. She comments that the only time she felt whole was when young Owen visited Storybrooke. Regina then goes to Gold's shop and asks him to get her a Baby. He asks if she's ready for a child. She replies that it's "something I need." He agrees to get her a Baby but adds that whether or not it will help her remains to be seen.
Back in Neverland, Regina puts a protection spell on Henry to keep him in his current condition. Emma then asks Neal if he has any idea where Pan went. He doesn't. Regina then threatens Felix to tell them where Pan is. Felix replies that "it doesn't matter because Pan has won and never fails." Regina then wants to torture Felix so he tells them where Pan is but Emma stops her and thinks there is another way to get the info they need.
Back in the past, Gold tells Regina that he talked to an agency in Boston and found her a baby from Phoenix whose adoption fell through.
Regina goes to Boston and meets with the head of the agency. He's very impressed with her references, etc. He then tells her that it's a closed adoption so she'll never be able to contact the baby's birth parents about medical history, etc. Regina says she doesn't care about the baby's past just his future. Then, a woman brings in the baby, who Regina names Henry after her father.
Back in Neverland, Neal sits with a comatose Henry as Emma tries to reason with the Lost Boys. She tells them that she was an orphan once like them but found out she wasn't alone and people who cared for her. Felix maintains that Pan is the "only family they'll ever need" but Emma says that Pan lied to them and made them do horrible things to save himself. Felix tells the other Lost Boys not to listen to Emma and that Pan cares about them but Emma says that he doesn't but they do and they can them home with them. Felix tells one of the Lost Boys to be quiet when he asks Emma if she can really take them home. The Lost Boy then tells the gang that Pan is "at his thinking tree" as Felix screams. The Lost Boy says he'll show them if Emma swears she'll take them home. She does.
Back in the past. Regina brings baby Henry to Granny's diner. Henry won't stop crying so Granny advises Regina to tell the baby a soothing story so he'll stop crying. Regina then picks Henry up and starts telling him a story but he keeps crying. Regina then takes him to the hospital to be checked out. Dr. Whale says Henry is fine. Regina insists that there must be something wrong with Henry and that it's his job to find out what it is. Dr. Whale then says to truly know if something is wrong with Henry, he'd need to know his birth parents' medical history. She tells Dr. Whale that it was a closed adoption and there is no way into contact them. Later, alone, she calls Sidney. While on the phone she runs into Mary-Margaret, who she asks to hold Henry. She tells Sidney to find out the name of Henry's birth mother despite it being against the law. She needs the info because she believes there is something wrong with Henry because he won't stop crying. She
then sees that he's stopped crying while Mary-Margaret has been holding him. She asks her how she got him to stop crying. Mary-Margaret replies that she just held him. Regina takes the baby from her and he resumes crying. Regina thinks it's her fault he won't stop crying.
Back in Neverland, the Lost Boys tell the gang where Pan's "thinking tree" is. Hook says no one has been there for centuries. Neal wants to get the Lost Boys onto Hook's ship so everyone's ready to go once they get Henry's heart back from Pan. Neal tells Emma that Henry will be safe with him while she and Hook go look for Pan. Mary-Margaret wants to go with Hook and Emma because she wants to spend as much time with Emma as possible since she has to stay with David in Neverland for eternity. Emma agrees.
Back in the past, Henry is still crying. She picked her up, kisses him and begs him "to give me a chance" and he stops crying. Regina is ecstatic. Then, Sidney calls to tell Regina that he's faxing her the info he found on Henry's birth mother. Regina reads it and immediately goes to Gold's shop. She accuses him if knowing that Henry's birth mother was found in the woods as a baby outside of Storybrooke "on a very significant day." Gold replies that didn't know what Regina is talking about. Regina realizes that Henry's birth mother is "important." Regina then accuses Gold of wanting to destroy everything she built by bringing Henry's birth mother to Storybrooke. Regina then says that Henry is going back to the agency in Boston.
Back in Neverland, Emma, Hook, Mary-Margaret and Regina find Pandora's Box but then a vine totes them to a tree, Pan appears and tells them that the "only place you'll be reunited with Henry is in death."
Back to the past. Regina takes baby Henry back to the Boston adoption agency. The head of the agency assures Regina that Henry will be fine and a new family is already lined up to take him. He leaves her alone with the baby fir a minute to say goodbye. She tells the baby that he deserves better than her but he just smiles and food. The head of the agency returns for Regina's last signature but she then tells him she's changed her mind and is keeping Henry then leaves. The head of the agency then tells the other family that the mother changed her mind. We see it was Wendy's brothers, John and Michael. As they leave the agency, they whisper that, "Pan won't be pleased. This is why we won't give up. We will get that child."
Back to Neverland. Pan tells Hook, Emma, Mary-Margaret and Regina that the tree is where he abandoned his son. Emma assumes he must regret it but he says that he doesn't. He then reveals that his son is Rumplestiltskin/Gold and that he locked him in Pandora's Box. Regina thinks Pan's magic is weakened, which is why he imprisoned Rumplestiltskin. Pan says she's right and that the tree will protect him until his powers are restored. Pan then says the tree "attacks the regret of anyone who comes here" and comments that Emma must have a lot of regret. Pan then says that now that he has Henry's heart inside him, he can feel how much it hurt when Emma let him down, time after time. Pan then says Regina has the most to regret of them all. Regina replies that she did cast the curse that “devastated an entire population. I’ve tortured and murdered. I’ve done some terrible things. I should be overflowing with regret…but I’m not.” Regina then breaks free of the vine, which frees Emma and Mary-Margaret much to Pan’s surprise and says, “Because it got me my son.” Regina then reaches into Pan’s chest, removes Henry’s heart and Pan collapses. She also grabs Pandora’s Box, turns to Emma and Mary-Margaret and says, “Let’s go save Henry.”
Now, on the “Jolly Roger,” the gang brings the Lost Boys aboard. Then, they look for Henry. Regina puts Henry’s heart back in his chest and everyone waits, hoping they weren’t too late. It takes a few seconds but Henry wakes up. Emma and Regina hug him and he apologizes saying that he “just wanted to save magic. I wanted to be a hero.” David tells him that there will be plenty of time for that. Hook is even expresses his relief at Henry’s revival. Mary-Margaret and Hook then suggest that Henry rest.
Back to the past as Archie tells Regina how pleased he is glad that things worked out for her. Yet, Regina tells Archie that she’s afraid that Henry’s birth mother will one day wake up with regret and come there to take him back. Archie mentions that it was a closed adoption so there’s no way Henry’s birth mother could ever locate Regina even if she wanted to. Regina says it was but she’s worried about fate. Archie tells Regina to try to stop “worrying about the future because then she won’t be able to enjoy the present. This child has brought something to you…love. Revel in that. Revel in being a mother.” Regina then takes baby Henry to visit her father’s tomb. She then makes a potion that will enable her to forget all her regrets/worries/troubles/fears and put Henry first so she and Henry could live happily and he’d be protected. She drinks the potion.
Back to Neverland. Regina talks to Henry as he rests. She then puts a protection spell around his heart so no one could ever take it from him again. He thanks her and she leaves him to rest, but as soon as she’s gone, Pan appears and says, “I’m sorry it had to come to this Henry.” Meanwhile, on the deck of the “Jolly Roger,” the gang releases Gold from Pandora’s Box and he and Neal hug. Gold asks about Henry, who Neal says is safe. Neal apologizes to him for thinking he would hurt Henry and asks Gold why he didn’t tell him Pan was his father. Gold replies that it was because “I didn’t want you know that I was as bad a father as he was. Because we’re both the same, me and him, because we both abandoned our sons.” Neal disagrees with Gold saying they aren’t the same because “you came back for me, Papa.” They hug again. Then, Emma, Mary-Margaret and David hug. Suddenly, Gold has a feeling something’s wrong.
Back with Henry and Pan. Pan tells Henry that he wanted his heart but Regina took it. Pan then tries to take Henry’s heart by force, but Regina’s protection spell prevents that from happening. Enraged, Pan instead reaches inside Henry to get his heart, hurting him. Suddenly, Gold appears with Pandora’s Box. Gold opens it and it begins to trap Pan, who’s pulling out Henry’s shadow and then both Pan and Henry’s eyes change. Then, Pan screams as he’s trapped inside Pandora’s Box. Regina then comes down but Henry tells her that he’s okay. Gold agrees saying Henry is strong and that Regina raised him well.
Back up on deck, everyone gets ready to sail home. Neal gets ready to open the coconut with Pan’s shadow inside and Emma readies the flame. Regina’s ready on her end. Neal releases Pan’s shadow and Regina captures it with a spell. The Shadow then morphs into the ship’s sail and the “Jolly Roger” begins to fly out of Neverland. David tells Emma that he didn’t think they all could work together as they did. Meanwhile, Mary-Margaret feeds the Lost Boys.
Tinkerbell asks Wendy if “it’s better than the cage.” Wendy asks if they are really free. She says they are and that she’ll see her brothers soon. Wendy then gives some pixie dust in a vial she kept hidden even though Tinkerbell tells her it won’t work because all her magic is gone. Still, Wendy says she believes in Tinkerbell.
Henry comes up on deck. Neal then tells him that he has a father now and he’ll never leave him and they hug. Tinkerbell tells Regina that she’s glad she got her son back. “Seems the Evil Queen managed to love someone after all.” Regina agrees and says Tinkerbell was right. Regina then tells Tinkerbell that she must still have some magic in her when she sees the pixie dust vial Wendy gave her light up. Tinkerbell doesn’t understand and Regina says, “It looks like for a moment, you believed.”
Henry hands Felix some food, which he angrily declines and tells Henry to go away. Instead, Henry thanks Felix, who tells Henry that he’s loyal to Pan no matter what the other Lost Boys do because “Pan…” “Never fails,” Henry finishes Felix’s sentence. Henry then tells Felix that, “Peter Pan never fails. He can’t be stopped. Even when they think he’s defeated, when they think they’ve won, he finds a way.” Felix then asks Henry if he thinks he isn’t safe. Henry replies, “No, I’m perfectly safe. During our struggle, my fate was sealed. The one who’s in trouble…is Henry.” Felix responds, “But, you’re Henry.” “Not anymore,” he replies. Felix then realizes he’s talking to Pan NOT Henry. It seems Pan somehow switched bodies with Henry during their struggle and it’s Henry NOT Pan who is trapped in Pandora’s Box!!! Henry/Pan asks Felix again if he’s hungry. This time, Felix takes the food and thanks Pan in a whisper. “Now, let’s play.” Henry/Pan says.
