Green Bay Packers fans can now rejoice as they will be getting their quarterback back. It was announced on Thursday that Aaron Rodgers will start Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.
Rodgers had missed seven games due to a left collar-bone injury. This season the Packers have been plagued by injuries. Linebacker Clay Matthews has a right thumb injury, running back Eddie Lacy has an ankle injury, and the Packers have gone most of the season without tight end Jermichael Finley who has a neck injury and receiver Randall Cobb who has a leg injury, according to the Associated Press. The Packers are glad that Rodgers is back.
"I'm excited. I feel good for Aaron," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "I don't think people realize the stress he's been under. He's been on board with playing for quite some time."
McCarthy added, "Every football player that plays in this game has risk. We’ve done our due diligence, gone through the evaluations and feel it's time."
Rodgers had been practicing on a limited basis for the last couple of weeks, but wasn’t medically cleared to play until this week, according to ESPN. After Rodgers got injured the Packers weren’t the same. They had a five game winless streak and went through three starting quarterbacks.
Sunday’s game against the Bears will determine the NFC North champion.
