Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker died Saturday from trauma and burn injuries, the Los Angeles Coroner’s office said Wednesday after performing the autopsy on Tuesday.
Officials listed the “combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries” as the cause of Walker’s death after the Porsche Carrera GT he was riding in crashed, reports Reuters. The driver, Roger Rodas, 38, also died, however burning was not listed in his cause of death.
According to TMZ the coroner’s found that Walker, 40, didn’t die on impact and that he burned to death after the crash. At that point, the car burst into flames. Both deaths were also ruled as accidents by the Medical Examiner. Dental records were used to positively identify the two men.
Meanwhile, Universal has made an official decision about the Fast & Furious franchise’s seventh film. It was reported that they would likely delay production, which is exactly what the studio will do.
In a statement to TheWrap, Universal confirmed that production will be delayed indefinitely. “At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise,” the studio said, adding that they will keep fans informed of their future decisions.
