Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder, Andrew McCutchen, proposed to his girlfriend of four years, Maria, on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday.

McCutchen first showed a video for his girlfriend, then told her how much it means to him to tell the whole world how much he loves her.

“I always envisioned that I would be on the highest mountain in the world,” he said, USA Today reports. “And that my voice would be as loud as a lion’s roar — times a billion — so the whole world could hear me, just to tell you how much that I love you.”

Before dropping down on one knee, McCutchen told his now-fiance he wasn’t proposing “for the publicity” or “the recognition” adding, “I did this to show you that if I could tell the whole world how much I love you, I would do that.”

When she accepted his proposal, DeGeneres beamed “She said yes!”

On Tuesday, McCutchen hinted something big would happen on the show when he tweeted:
