Prince Harry and his trekking team made up of servicemen and women reached the South Pole on Friday, as part of a charity event. Harry and his team made the trek for the Walking With The Wounded charity.

Three teams of seven took part in the event. The teams represented the United Kingdom, United States and the Commonwealth.

According to the Associated Press, the event was originally a race to reach the South Pole but organizers ended the competitive aspect due to the undue strain it was placing on participants.

Harry, a member of the British armed forces, served in Afghanistan and has a long relationship with the charity. He completed a similar trek in 2011, but that time on an expedition to the North Pole, according to CNN. However he had to withdraw to attend his brother’s wedding.

The teams had to trek over 200 miles across the continent in temperatures as low as -31 degrees Fahrenheit.
