Following A&E’s announcement that they’ve placed Duck Dynasty patriarch on suspension for his remarks on gay people in an interview with GQ, the Robertson family has responded in a statement.

They explained they have to think over the future of the show if Phil isn’t involved in it.

The Robertsons also defend him, saying “his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible." They also say, in part, that he’s a “godly man” who would “never incite or encourage hate.”

People notes the Robertson family; which includes Phil’s wife Kay and their four children as well as their wives, continued, "We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm," adding, "We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family."

As we previously reported, the network said they were "extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson's comments in GQ.”

However, Sarah Palin, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal and more have rallied in his defense.
