Snoop Dogg and Secretary of State John Kerry may seem unlikely to ever find themselves in the same room, but during an event earlier this month, the two did meet and bumped fists. Snoop finally shared the surprising moment online and it’s now gone viral.
The two met during a party at the White House for the 2013 Kennedy Center Honorees. According to People, Snoop had performed during the ceremony, paying tribute to jazz legend Herbie Hancock.
The video did not surface until Thursday, when Snoop posted it on Instagram. The rapper and Kerry are seen chatting together, with Kerry’s wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry nearby. Unfortunately, whoever recorded it for Snoop didn’t try to get any clear audio, so the conversation can barely be made out. Apparently, they are talking about Hancock’s influence on music, with Snoop crediting him with creating hip-hop.
Snoop also shared a link to the video on Twitter. “Boss life. me n john kerry at d white house,” he wrote. The official State Department account responded to him, writing “Between us we've sold 30 million-JK.”
Maybe Snoop was also looking for advice in politics from the former Massachusetts senator.
