This season of Survivor: Blood vs Water is coming to a close, and everyone is scrambling to stay alive in the game. The final survivors are Ciera, Hayden, Monica, Tyson, and Gervais. By happenstance, Katie drew the white rock at the last tribal council and was sent to Redemption Island. There seems to be a line in the sand (quite literally) between the remaining survivors—it’s Hayden and Ciera versus Monica, Tyson, and Gervais.
It appears as though Monica, Tyson, and Gervais have the advantage this time—they have the numbers and Tyson has the hidden immunity idol in his possession. However, there is still someone coming back in the game from Redemption Island, and things can change quickly in the game of Survivor.
At the Redemption Island duel, Katie faces off against her mother and Laura M. Tina appears conflicted as to what to do—she isn’t sure if she should let her daughter win or try to advance her own game.
This challenge involves tying sticks to a rope in order to make a long pole. They must use the pole to pick up three different sets of keys. They will use these keys to unlock the chain door in front of them. The fastest survivors to gather their keys and unlock the door will stay on Redemption Island, and the third person to finish will be eliminated from the game.
Laura M., as always, dominates this challenge. She is the first to grab all three keys and unlock the door, as Katie and Tina struggle with their poles. Katie is ahead until she drops her key in the sand and is incapable of picking it back up. With that, Tina has enough time to collect her final two bags and wins the duel. Katie will now be eliminated from the game, and Tina and Laura M. will stay on Redemption Island and fight for a chance to re-enter the game.
Since Laura M. is the winner of this challenge, she can give the clue to the hidden immunity idol to any of the remaining survivors. No surprise here—she decides to give the clue to her daughter, Ciera.
Back at camp, Ciera and Hayden read the clue and search for the immunity idol. Neither of them are aware that Tyson has already found the immunity idol, and Hayden continues to search high and low all afternoon. Monica confesses her worry to Gervais and Tyson and claims to think that Hayden will succeed in finding the idol. Tyson finally admits to Monica that he has the idol in his possession.
At the immunity challenge, survivors must push a buoy attached to a rope through the water. Once their buoy reaches the shore, they must untie a bag of letters to solve a puzzle. The puzzle will spell a common Survivor phrase that Jeff Probst has said multiple times to the contestants.
When the challenge begins, Hayden and Tyson take early leads, and Ciera falls way behind. Hayden and Tyson are still neck and neck when it comes to the puzzle, but Ciera surprisingly comes back from way behind and starts solving the puzzle quickly and decisively. She is the first to spell out the phrase, “You have to dig deep,” and wins immunity!
Now that Ciera has won immunity, Ciera and Hayden have to worry about Hayden’s safety in the game. They believe that the “crack” in the alliance of Tyson, Gervais, and Monica is Monica. As such, they make a plan to pull Monica onto their side. Ciera tells Monica that Gervais and Tyson talk baldly about her behind her back, and that they call her their “lapdog.” Monica appears personally hurt and offended by the words, but it still is unclear whether she will flip or not.
At tribal council, Hayden and Ciera try hard to convince Monica to join their side. They emphasize that her kids and her husband are watching and would want her to make her own moves in the game. Monica appears torn, but when it comes to the vote, it’s clear it wasn’t enough to change her mind. There are 3 votes to evict Hayden, and 2 votes to evict Gervais. Hayden will now join Katie and Laura M. on Redemption Island and fight for an opportunity to re-enter the game.
What will happen on the exciting season finale of Survivor: Blood vs. Water? Who will re-enter the game, and who will be crowned the winner? We will find out on Sunday 8/9 central during the two-hour finale special and the hour-long reunion show!
