CBS has renewed its hit series Survivor for two more seasons which will bring the show up to 30 seasons by 2015. Jeff Probst has agreed to continue to host.
According to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Mark Burnett expressed his excitement in a statement. In it he promises to make the next two seasons better than the previous ones as well as shouting out his love for the show.
When asked what he thought of the news that Survivor will be filming a 30th season, Probst said, “at this point I feel like if our audience continues to watch and we continue to win our time slot week to week, then I think we could have another renewal after this.”
According to The Wrap, CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler said of the renewal, “‘Survivor’ continues to set the bar for outstanding production values, compelling storytelling while delivering fresh new adventures every season. “ She acknowledges the show’s success is thanks to the wonderful work of Mark Burnett and host Jeff Probst. She also gave kudos to the production team’s hard work.
The series’ current season, Survivor: Blood vs. Water, airs its last episode on Dec. 15. A reunion show hosted by Probst will follow.
