Unaccredited fashion bloggers and freelance photographers who enjoyed experiencing Fashion Week live, may now be out of luck due to a new ticketing policy. Sources report that the popular bi-annual fashion show will start limiting its audience to “people of value to the models and designers” due to complaints of it looking like a "zoo.”
What’s suppose to be a classy spectacle for designers to highlight their collections, has become overcrowded and increasingly expensive event over the years. Street photographers and bloggers with no connection to the industry easily took advantage of the experience, contrary to its level of elite. Vogue News reports that IMG Fashion seeks to reduce the guest list by 20% with heightened press accredited guidelines and exclusive venues, ultimately preventing multifarious bloggers and photographers from getting into the event.
According to Business InsiderCatherine Bennett, senior vice president and managing director of IMG Fashion events and properties, describes it as “zoo.” Additional changes that will take place to limit invitations to fashion insiders include two brand new venues and updated Lincoln Centre Base, the Telegraph.Co.Uk reports. To no surprise cities outside the U.S such as Paris and London experience the same issue with its fashion extravaganza. Feeling like you’re at a circus, Suzy Menkes from International New York Times tells sources it almost impossible to walk around or see the runway with the multitude of paparazzi preying on the models.
Despite the changes, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion show will still be broadcasted live from New York City for everyone to see February 2014.
