Olympic bronze medalist Tom Daley has said the positive responses to his YouTube video where he confessed to being in a relationship with a man has been staggering.

He tweeted on Monday, "Overwhelmed by all the support! Means the world! Thanks so much guys," Entertainmentwise reports.

BBC presenter Gary Lineker who was happy to see the support towards Daley, wrote, " Hope the gay footballers who may be contemplating 'coming out' are encouraged by the groundswell of good feeling towards @TomDaley1994."

Many other celebrities also spoke out through Twitter in their support and congratulation of Daley willing to be open about his personal life, including Kylie Minogue and Ricky Martin. Olympic medalist Greg Rutherford did lament, "It's a shame people have to call him 'brave' for being gay, it's normal. More people just need to embrace it."

As previously reported, Daley admitted in a YouTube video that he "felt safe" with his life and was ready to admit that he was dating a man.

The Olympic medalist didn't mention the person by name, but said that whoever it is has had a huge effect on his life and that while being around him "something just clicked" and "it felt right."
