Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo suffered a herniated disc in his back during Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins.
Despite the injury that will likely require surgery at some point, head coach Jason Garrett refused to officially rule Romo out for their season finale against the Philadelphia game, reports NFL.com. The game, which has been flexed to the evening, has playoff implications for both teams as the winner is in and the other is eliminated.
"He's been getting treatment all today," Garrett said during Monday's news conference. "He'll continue to get it and we'll evaluate it on a day-by-day basis. We'll see what his status is Wednesday for this coming week."
Sources who spoke with NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport say that chances Romo plays aren't great, which means that backup Kyle Orton would be called upon to try and get the Cowboys into the playoffs.
"I took a hit that kind of triggered it a little bit. ... I felt it after that play, the rest of the game," Romo said on Sunday, according to Fox Sports.
Romo said that the pain was not coming from the side that he had had offseason back surgery on.
