USA Network is looking to cash in on the Southern-set reality TV show trend with a new family reality show called Chrisley Knows Best. The show will be paired with repeats of Modern Family.
Chrisley is set in Atlanta, where self-made millionaire Todd Chrisley lives with his wife, Judy, and their five children. USA describes the events at the Chrisley household as “laugh-out-loud,” as he keeps a close eye on every single thing that goes on in his 30,000 square-foot home.
The show will be produced by Maverick TV and All3Media America.
It will premiere with two episodes on Tuesday, March 11 at 10 p.m., right after Modern Family. As Deadline notes, this is a strategy TBS has used to launch its own hit reality show King of the Nerds, which follows episodes of The Big Bang Theory. USA is likely hoping that it works for them as well, pairing a hit scripted show with a new reality show with a similar theme.
“Chrisley Knows Best is a broad family comedy that is a modern version of Father Knows Best with the volume turned way up” Heather Olander, senior vice president, alternative programming for USA Network, said in a statement. “While their lifestyle is over-the-top and their personalities are larger-than-life, the Chrisleys are a very close-knit family who are refreshingly honest and genuinely funny.”
Chrisley repeats will air on E!, which is also owned by NBCUniversal, starting March 16.
