Usher commented on his protégé Justin Bieber’s recent controversies at his Believe documentary premiere this week.

“I mean more money, more problems,” Usher said of Bieber’s headline-making antics, such as being photographed leaving a hostel in Brazil and fighting with his Calabasas neighbors.

“The beautiful part about it is that those that are invested in a long term story you understand that there are peaks and valleys in every person's life some,” Usher continued, Entertainmentwise reports.

“Unfortunately the reality is he has to live with a camera in front of him, but what he chooses to do on or off camera is analyzed or scrutinized in some off way.”

The AP notes that Bieber’s mother, Pattie Mallette and his grandmother, Diane Dale, also commented on the 19-year-old pop star’s critics.

"It's tough because the whole world is a critic,” said Mallette, while Dale said the “media has been terrible on him.”

Bieber’s second film documentary hits theaters on Christmas Day.
