VH1 has announced that it bought the rights to the three aired seasons of the cancelled comedy show Happy Endings from Sony Pictures Television.
According to Deadline, the move is a rare off-network acquisition, and the only one that VH1 currently has.
Episodes will begin airing Dec. 31 in a marathon through New Year's Day. Then starting Jan. 8, the show will air Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m. in a two-hour block. The network also has the rights to add the show to its TV Everywhere streaming platform and VH1 app.
Executive Vice President of Programming Ben Zurier said, "'Happy Endings' is one of our favorite network series, and we consider ourselves lucky to be able to add it to the VH1 line-up," Variety reports. He added, "The show's authentic voice, memorable characters, and smart humor really stands out."
Happy Endings ran for three seasons on ABC before it was cancelled and producer Sony Pictures Television was unable to find another network interested in reviving it.
