Chicagoland is a series about the mayor and the city of Chicago. Executive producer on Chicagoland is Robert Redford. He has been working with Laura Michalchyshyn, Marc Levin, and Mark Benjamin of BCTV on the project.
Robert Redford told Variety, “The vibrant culture and opportunities inherent in this 21st century, world-class city run alongside profound daily challenges. Much of it falls on the shoulders of its tough, visionary mayor, his team and people doing heroic work in neighborhoods throughout the city. Chicago has always had a rhythm all its own. It’s a city that wears its heart on its sleeve and I am honored to be a part of telling this story.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marc Levin and Mark Benjamin asked William Morris Endeavor not to represent them when first working on the eight-part non scripted series so as to avoid a conflict of interest when covering Chicago mayor, Rahm Emanuel.
The filmmakers shot footage covering politics in Chicago over an eight-month period. They anticipate that they will receive criticism from all sides when Chicagoland begins on Mar. 6.
