In this week’s episode of Pretty Little Liars, the girls waste no time in apprehending a possible hiding place of their always disappearing friend, Ali. Upon arriving at the decrepit apartment like cubicle of a room, they find a dress that would definitely be worn by Ali as well as a broken window with no other signs of life. As the door closed on another opportunity to contact Ali, “A” wasted no time in letting the girls know that they were, in fact, “too late”.

A mess of emotions and conflicting sentiments causes Hanna to come on to Travis a little too strong in a desperate plea to recover from the damage that Caleb has inadvertently left. However, nothing can really fill the void that was left at the expense of Hanna’s interminably aching heart.

Aria deals with conflicts of similar yet different subject matter where she is forced to choose between her longtime lover Ezra, who is proving to no long be a favorite of the “PLL” community, or her newest beau, Jake, who I’ve found myself most in favor of lately. Regardless I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that everyone’s heart broke when Aria found the perfectly wrapped package and note from Jake encrypted, “Thought this would look beautiful on you. See you soon….Jake”. The package consisted of a silver necklace with Aria’s name precisely engraved on the bottom with a perfectly placed ruby jewel adorning the top, assumingly sent before Aria broke the news she was seeing evil Ezra again. Even if it didn’t work for Aria, I know that my heart definitely felt for Jake!

Spencer indefinitely argues with her cunning father and indecisive mind of her own regarding Toby’s lawsuit with Radley and also a mix-up with Emily’s own agenda. Emily, on the other hand, takes a risk and agrees to meet with Ali once more after a failed attempt at the kissing rock last episode. However, my theory still holds that the kissing rock note was actually from the dreaded “A” and not from Ali herself. Or at least that’s what I want to believe!

As Emily approaches the abandoned garage-like atmosphere where she is said to meet Ali, this week’s biggest moment was revealed as the meeting between Emily and Ali herself. Even though the news that Ali has been alive this entire time is no new asset to the dramatic television series, I have to divulge in the fact that just at the sight of her perfectly curled blonde locks, I felt an inadvertent sense of the chills tingling up my slightly hunched spine. Who is Ali still hiding from?

Ali surprisingly shared the same sentiments and begged Emily to help her find out who “A” is so that she could return to Rosewood without threat. However, Spencer’s rather annoying timing killed any chance of Emily getting meaningful information from Allison and the episode ended with a serious altercation between Emily and Spencer.

Perhaps another huge moment within the episode is that upon learning of Jake’s suspicions, Ezra reveals he has lied to Aria after being seen violently “screaming” at a mystery blonde he claims to be the lawyer of his ex-girlfriend, Maggie. Once Aria reveals that Jake informed her of the falsehood that Ezra depicted, a series of terrifyingly sharp knives appeared hidden under the mat of Jake’s punching bag. My heart bled even further for the wounds that enveloped the face of his unsuspecting foot. Okay so that was extremely dramatic but even so, could Ezra truly have been that evil to do such a thing?

Did Ezra plant those knives in a fit of rage and anger? Are Spencer and Emily really done being friends? Are Hanna and Caleb forever over? But finally, will Ali ever reach out to the girls again and will Aria realize how dangerous her decision really is? Tune in next week for episode 4’s best moment!
