Stage, TV, and film actor Joseph Ruskin passed away on December 28, 2013 in Santa Monica, California.
According to SAG-AFTRA , Ruskin died of natural causes in a Santa Monica hospital. Plans for a memorial service are being made and will be announced accordingly.
Joseph Ruskin, whose, according to CNN, real name was Joseph Schalfman, was born April 14, 1924 in Haverhill, Massachusetts. In 1942, he joined the Navy and fought in World War II. After the war ended, he enrolled in Carnegie-Mellon University (formerly named Carnegie Tech) as a drama student, which led to his successful acting career. He was an active member of the Screen Actor's Guild, the SAG-AFTRA, and the Actors' Equity Association.
Ruskin was involved in 25 films and 124 TV shows, as well as a number of stage plays. He was known for his roles in movies such as: Prizzi's Honor, Indecent Proposal, and Smokin' Aces. His TV credits include Star Trek,Alias, and Mission Impossible. He was also involved in the theater performances of “You Can't Take it With You” and “The Crucible.”
