Hollywood has been buzzing this week and not just because of the Oscar nominations. Several reports have confirmed that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are engaged, although there’s been no official confirmation from their reps.
The new wave of engagement rumors began swirling after paparazzi saw what looked like Heard’s engagement ring. Heard tried to cover her face, but the 27-year-old couldn’t stop the photographers from seeing the huge ring on her finger.
Just days later, insiders began spilling the beans. A source told Celebuzz that they have been engaged since Christmas Eve. “Amber really took her time to make up her mind,” the source told the site.
Celebuzz’s source said that Heard actually turned down Depp before. They have been linked since 2012, but didn’t make their first red carpet appearance until earlier this month at the Art of Elysium's 7th Annual HEAVEN Gala.
“The proposal happened a while ago,” an insider for Us Weekly said. “She just didn't wear the ring.”
People reports that Heard did tell close friends about the engagement and that both are very happy. She is also having fun with Depp’s children with ex Vanessa Paradis, Lily-Rose, 14, and Jack, 11.
Heard and Depp, 50, will be seen together in London Fields, in which Depp makes a cameo. The Pirates of the Caribbean star also appears in Wally Pfister’s Transcendence, which opens in April. He also completed shooting Disney’s Into The Woods.
