The Boston Celtics have traded guards Jordan Crawford and Marshon Brooks to the Golden State Warriors as part of a three-team trade. Warriors guard Toney Douglas is going to the Miami Heat and the Heat are sending center Joel Anthony and a first and second round draft pick to the Celtics.
Getting Crawford is good for the Warriors as they try to add depth to their backcourt. He has become more of a playmaker and is having a career season. Crawford is averaging 13.7 points and 5.7 assists this season. Brooks was recalled by the Celtics from their Development League team, and has played in just 10 games for the Celtics. Douglas was averaging 3.7 points in 24 games with the Warriors.
The Celtics will be getting a first-round draft pick from the Heat. The draft pick from the Heat comes from the Philadelphia 76ers and it will become two second round picks if the 76ers miss the playoffs this season and next season, according to Yahoo Sports.
In addition to getting Anthony, the Celtics sent Rajon Rando, who is recovering from a torn ACL, to their D-league team so he can work out. Rando could return as early as Friday. The trade is really good news for the Heat. The Heat will save almost $7.7million in salary and luxury taxes this season and they save an addition $3.8 million which they would of owed Anthony for next season, according to ESPN. In the end the Heat could end up saving more than $15 million in salary and luxury taxes.
