Camryn Manheim has been cast in CBS' new series Extant opposite the already-cast Halle Berry.

Deadline first reported on the casting for the summer show. The show is being produced by CBS Television Studios and Amblin TV.

Extant reunites Manheim with CBS, as she's been on several of their shows in the past, including Ghost Whisperer, the miniseries Elvis, Criminal Minds and Person of Interest. Manheim won an Emmy Award for The Practice which aired on ABC.

The event series is about Berry's character who is an astronaut that just spent a year in space and is trying to reconnect with her family. Berry's character's experiences lead to events that might change human history.

Extant will air on CBS and will stream exclusively through Amazon Instant Video.

Amazon and CBS confirmed the deal and CBS' Chief Corporate Licensing Officer Scott Koondel said, "Our partnership with Amazon for Under the Dome helped build a creative, financial and marketing model for event television in the summer. We look forward to using the same model for Extant.
