CBS is making a wave of announcements ahead of today’s panel at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena. The network has announced the renewal of its entire daytime lineup and when anticipated summer shows Extant and Under The Dome will premiere.
CBS likes to renew shows early, so the decision to renew all its daytime shows for the 2014-2015 season so early isn’t surprising. The shows include game shows The Price is Right and Let’s Make A Deal; soap operas The Young and the Restless and The Brave and the Bold; and talkshow The Talk.
“The return of all five of our CBS Daytime shows is a credit to the collaborative spirit of the casts, crews and staff who work tirelessly to make their creative vision come to life,” Angelica McDaniel, Senior Vice President, CBS Daytime, said in a statement. “A special thank you goes out to our loyal fans for watching and for making us #1 in daytime.”
Under The Dome, based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, was a surprise success last summer, averaging 15.06 million viewers and a 3.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The show was quickly renewed for a second season, which CBS said will premiere on Monday, June 30 at 10 p.m. The show will also be back on Amazon, a few days after each episode airs.
Extant stars Halle Berry in her first regular TV series role and will premiere on Wednesday, July 2 at 9 p.m. Episodes of the show will also be available on Amazon.
Both Extant and Under The Dome are Amblin Television co-productions with CBS with Steven Spielberg as an executive producer.
CBS also announced today that Survivor and The Amazing Race will be back next month.
