Chris Brown has rejected the plea deal offered to him by a Washington, D.C. judge in relation to his assault case that took place in October outside of a hotel in the city.
Both the “Fine China” singer and his bodyguard rejected the plea deal that would’ve found them guilty of simple assault.
According to NBC Washington, Brown’s lawyer, Danny Onorato, told reporters outside of a courthouse on Wednesday that he didn’t take the deal because he’s not guilty.
Brown and his bodyguard Chris Hollosy were initially arrested on felony assault charges for punching a man named Parker Isaac Adams, 20, outside of the W Hotel.
That charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor. If found guilty in the assault case, they face up to 180 days in jail and will have to pay a $1,100 fine. Brown was on probation at the time of the arrest from his 2009 case against then-girlfriend Rihanna.
The next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 20. Brown is currently in a live-in rehab facility in Los Angeles, which he was ordered to attend for three months.
