Banshee, only a few episodes into the second season, has already been renewed for a third season, Cinemax announced on Thursday.

The Alan Ball created show had been renewed for its second season early as well, reports Deadline. The show is executive produced by the True Blood creator, David Schickler, Peter Macdissi, Greg Yaitanes and Jonathan Tropper.

According to Variety, Banshee follows an ex-con, Hood, who manages to find his old love and once partner. She had hitched up with a Pennsylvanian prosecutor, so Hood becomes the town of Banshee's sheriff.

Hood is played by Antony Starr and Ivana Milicevic plays his ex-lover, Carrie Hopewell.

HitFix notes that Cinemax also renewed Strike Back for a fourth season, which will also be the show's last, which could explain the premium cable network locking in the Banshee already.

Cinemax lacks any other proven original programs once Strike Back ends its run and other developing shows, such as Clive Owen's The Knick, are currently unknowns.
