It’s the season of bowls with a Puppy and Super Bowl this weekend, but in Philadelphia there’s also a Wing Bowl where a Nebraskan woman championed 363 wings. Molly Schuyler beat 2o12 champion, Takeru Kobayashi by 26 wings. The Philadelphia Wing Bowl has been around for twenty years and featured Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce who ate only 65 wings. Schuyler is only the second woman after Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas to win the wild wing event.

Ellen Degeneres and Russell Simmons are just some of the celebrities who support author and activist, Kathy Freston in her pursuit of vegetarian options at McDonalds. Freston has achieved 85,000 signatures on her Change.org petition that calls for changes to be made at the fast food giant’s chain. Freston has been on numerous talk shows discussing her plant-based dieting preferences and benefits this change could make to employees and customers. No word yet on whether McDonalds will agree to the change.

U.K. tabloid The Daily Mail is facing a lawsuit on behalf of JK Rowling. The Harry Potter series author is suing the tabloid on allegations of libel. Her attorneys claim that the paper falsely represented what Rowling had written about in an essay last fall. Apparently the tabloid made it look as if Rowling saw her Christian church community as unchristian and bigoted. The Daily Mail has not commented on the situation, but has already taken the article down.

Mutant bees known as, “Zombie Bees” have been spottedin the Northeast region of the U.S. The Zombie bee was spotted at a home in Vermont. These zombie-mutant bees are honeybees that have been infested with parasites that latch onto the bee, lay their eggs and then later hatch on the bee. The infested bee starts behaving unnaturally and then eventually dies. This is the first sighting of the mutant bee since it was first discovered in 2008.
