Daniel Radcliffe is set to return to Broadway in The Cripple of Inishmaan, which the former Harry Potter actor has already done in London. The production will bring its entire London cast to Broadway, opening in April.
The play, written by Martin McDonagh, earned Radcliffe a warm reception from critics at the West End, notes the BBC. It centers on a crippled Irish teen who tries to become a movie star when a Hollywood film crew decides to make a movie on an island near his hometown.
Inishmaan will be directed by Michael Grandage on Broadway and Radcliffe will be joined by the rest of the London cast. The original London production was staged at the Noel Coward Theatre.
NBC New York reports that shows at Broadway’s Cort Theatre begin on April 12 and the official opening is April 20. It will only be performed through July 20.
Although this is Inishmaan’s first Broadway production, the The Public Theater produced it off-Broadway in 1998 and the Atlantic theater staged a production in 2009.
Radcliffe was last on Broadway in 2011 for How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. He also starred in Equus in 2008, making his Broadway debut.
