Former NFL safety Darren Sharper was arrested for sexual assault and taken into custody on Friday evening. Sharper was a five-time Pro Bowler who played for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints.

Sharper played a key role in the Saints' 2009 Super Bowl championship run by leading the league with nine interceptions and three touchdown returns, according to SportsIllustrated.

According to TMZ, there are two females who were allegedly raped by Sharper on two different nights. Each of Sharper's accusers claim they were raped in Los Angeles hotel rooms, one being in October 2013 with the other one in January 2014.

Because of these separate accusations, Sharper will be facing multiple investigations. He was released on $200k bail though after being booked in an L.A. jail.

Sharper was suspended by his employer NFL Network for these charges, according to NBCSports.

Sharper will be "suspended without pay until further notice, effective immediately" according to a statement given by NFL Network. He is due to appear in Los Angeles Municipal Court on Feb. 14.
