Director David O. Russell is in deep water after he compared Jennifer Lawrence working on the ‘Hunger Games’ series to slavery.
“I’ll tell you what it is about that girl—talk about 12 years of slavery, that’s what the franchise is. And I’m going to get in so much trouble for saying that.” Russell said this comment during a talk with Confidenti@l at the Australian Academy’s AACTA Awards.
Russell most likely made the comment in reference to Lawrence’s pneumonia scare last year, and her missing an “American Hustle” premiere for “bad weather” according to Yahoo Movies.
At the Golden Globes, Lawrence won an award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture, and again when her current movie, “American Hustle” won for Best Picture in a Musical/Comedy.
Russell apologized again through an e-mail with HuffPost Entertainment saying, ““Clearly, I used a stupid analogy in a poor attempt at humor. I realized it the minute I said it and I am truly sorry.”
