The newest Disney animated hit, Frozen is in early developments to move from its spirited screen to the magical stage of Broadway. The recently announced Golden Globe winning film will be one of many staged Disney classics. Although the news is exciting to many, the actual production may take many years in the making.
According toFortune magazine Disney’s chairman, Bob Iger, stated, “We're not demanding speed, we’re demanding excellence.” With excellence for the film nearly perfect, the box office hit tells the tale of two sisters on a mission to save their home from being completely enclosed with an icy film was somewhat based on Haans Christian Anderson’s The Snow Queen.
It’s no surprise that the animated musical’s soundtrack has had such success and record sales with book writers such as Robert Lopez and wife Kristen-Anderson Lopez. Broadway.com reveals that the two co-writers also wrote scores for some of Broadway’s biggest hits like, Avenue Q and The Book of Mormon. The soundtrack features hits such as “Let it Go”, performed by Broadway superstar idina Menzel, and “Do You Want to Build A Snowman?” which has landed the soundtrack on number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Frozen has cleared a total of about $699 million just in the recent few weeks that the film as opened. The film has not even hit the big screen in China or Japan yet and is sure to do just as well with sales and box office earnings. Landing at number 1 for a Disney animated debut, Frozen is sure to be jumping off of the 3-D screen soon, to an entire new life of animation.
