Doctors are now taking procedures to bring seven time Formula One champion, Michael Schumacher out of the induced coma he was placed in following a serious sky accident he had in December. As previously reported , Schumacher was skiing in the French Alpine resort of Meribel on Dec. 29 when he fell and his head on a rock causing the helmet he was wearing to split and multiple head injuries.
"Michael's sedation is being reduced in order to allow the start of the waking up process which may take a long time," a statement read released on Jan. 30 by his spokeswoman, Sabine Kehm. "For the protection of the family, it was originally agreed by the interested parties to communicate this information only once this process was consolidated. Please note that no further updates will be given,” continued the statement.
Schumacher was flown via helicopter to the Grenoble University Hospital following his accident in December. After suffering much bleeding and bruising with “widespread lesions,” Schumacher went through surgery and was placed on induced coma after to reduce the risk of further damage reported Yahoo! News . The following day, Schumacher went through another surgery to reduce the bleeding.
"We still don't know what shape he will be in when he wakes up, which is awful for his family and friends," said a fellow driver and friend Sebastian Vettel.
