When Ke$ha announced that she was entering rehab last week for an eating disorder, the speculation of what lead to the decision started immediately. There were reports that producer Dr. Luke bullied her into changing her image and the “Tik Tok” singer’s mother put the blame on him as well. Now, Dr. Luke is responding the those claims, calling them false.
Ke$ha checked into rehab on Friday morning and over the weekend, a TMZ report alleged that Dr. Luke told her in 2012 that she “looks like a f***ing refrigerator.” Pebe Sebert, Ke$ha’s mother, seemed to corroborate that report in an interview with People this week.
“Dr. Luke had been telling her how she had to get in shape and lose weight and all this stuff. She was exercising and dieting and ultimately doing everything she could, but not getting thin fast enough,” Sebert told the magazine. “And that's when she first became bulimic.”
The producer did say that she looked like a ‘refrigerator’ and asked if the 26-year-old could control her weight, Sebert claims. “After she went on a 14-day juice cleanse, he said, 'Thank God you finally got rid of the weight! We've all been talking about it!' So she felt like she couldn't trust anyone.”
Ke$ha decided to go to rehab during the holidays. Sebert claims that her daughter called her up at a gas station after she threw up “and admitted how much she'd been doing it.”
A rep for Dr. Luke sent People a statement, denying Sebert’s claims. “These statements and allegations concerning Dr. Luke are completely false,” the rep stated. “It is unfortunate that at a time Ke$ha is suffering immensely and trying to heal at a treatment center, her mother is taking this approach with the media.”
The statement concluded, “I give Ke$ha my utmost support and well wishes for a quick return to health.”
Ke$ha has been on the charts lately with “Timber,” which features Pitbull. She also released a video for “Dirty Love” this month.
