Forbes has named director Steven Spielberg at the top of their Most Influential Celebrities list, besting last year’s top celebrity Oprah Winfrey.
Winfrey didn’t fall too far, though, as she’s second on the list with an E-score of of 45 – two behind Spielber’s 47.
E-Scores are based on E-Poll Market Research, basically meaning 47 percent of American think Spielberg is influential and 45 percent think the former Oprah Winfrey Show host is influential.
Forbes reports the E-Poll findings measured over 6,600 celebrities – factoring in the amount of likeability and awareness of 46 personality traits.
Gerry Philpott, president of E-Poll Market Research explained, "A celebrity's 'Influential' score represents how that person is perceived as influencing the public, their peers, or both.”
George Lucas came in third with a 43 percent score, followed by Ron Howard with 41 percent and Martin Scorsese with 40 percent.
Reuters notes Spielberg throwing Winfrey out of the top slot could’ve been heavily influenced by his film Lincoln, which made $275 million at the box office and was nominated for 12 Academy Awards.
