Fox is has signed a deal with the comedy troupe Lonely Island to make "alternative" development for TV through a variety of digital platforms.
Variety added that Lonely Island first rose to fame back in 2005 when they appeared on Saturday Night Live. Since their appearance, the group has had chart topping hits like, "I'm On A Boat" and "I Just Had Sex."
The Hollywood Reporter reported that with this new partnership, the trio will oversee the development of comedy projects that will be managed and created through digital areas like Hulu and Roku.
The deal will not include any music production, the deal focuses on the duo only creating serial comedy programming for digital avenues. This is not the first deal of its kind from Fox. Fox previously made deals with filmmakers Jon Avnet and Rodrigo Garcia.
The group has a history with Fox back in 2005, the crew created Awesometown but the network decided to pass on.
This deal comes as another push from Fox to think outside of the box and push more digital, non-traditional content.
