Fox decided to run a comedy this past fall staring Andy Samberg of Saturday Night Live and Andre Braugher of Law and Order. It was an interesting idea, to say the least, yet the show did not really gain that much popularity in the beginning and others were calling it doomed before it even began.
While Facebook tells a different story of how the show was received at first with comments like, "Best sitcom on TV?! Nay...on the planet!” from fans, we all remember just a few weeks ago when the fate of Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s future hung in the balance due to its low ratings starting out.
The Guardian reminded us all of Seth Rogen’s comment about Samberg’s show on the James Franco roast when he said while unsuccessfully holding back his amusement, “Andy plays a cop on his new Fox show. His first case will be investigating the disappearance of his new Fox show." Now look who gets the last laugh. It would be the entire, talented cast of Fox’s new Golden Globe Nominee.
And what a cast it is. The goofy characters that make up the ‘Nine-nine’ precinct are portrayed so perfectly by this great group of actors. Terry Crews plays ‘Sergeant Terry Jeffords ‘, a slightly neurotic new father, who is just coming back to active duty after two shooting incidents that occurred out on cases. Stephanie Beatriz, a lesser known actress, has completely become the role she plays as ‘Detective Rosa Diaz’. She is taking scary and sexy to a whole new level.
When the show took its short hiatus before its return on Jan. 7, 2014 at 8:30 pm Eastern time, they left us with a Christmas episode in which ‘Capt. Holt’, “Detective Jake Peralta”, and the rest of the Nine- nine squad were forced to work with and except each other. Now we don’t have long to wait to see the next bit of shenanigans and the casts developing relationships.
Brooklyn Nine Nine will return on its new night, Tuesdays. Don’t forget to watch!
