A French news agency reported on Saturday that President Francois Hollande has ended his relationship with Valerie Trierweiler.

Agence France Presse stated that, over a phone conversation, Hollande admitted to ending his seven year relationship with Trierweiler, who functioned as the country’s first lady. The two have lived together since 2007, but were never married.

According to Fox News, this is just two weeks after reports that the President was having an affair with actress Julie Gayet. In the reports, it was claimed that their affair began in 2012 during the presidential race.

One of Hollande’s aides, who remained anonymous, confirmed that it was the president who spoke to AFP and announced his separation with Trierweiler.
The couple had originally started a relationship together just six months after Hollande left his previous partner, Segolene Royal, BBC reports. He has four children with the one-time presidential candidate.

The actress, Julie Gayet, announced that she is suing Closer magazine, the publication that had made the initial reports of her affair with Hollande, for breach of privacy.
