A Broadway veteran, Glenn Close has been confirmed to join the cast of an unknown Broadway show this coming fall. Although the award-winning actress has not been seen on the stage in some time now, Close revealed her excitement in the new endeavor.
According to Broadway.com, this will be the first time that Close will return to the Broadway stage in about 17 years! Close had reportedly been sending subtle suggestions to Broadway.com regarding a return to the stage and will now be entertaining audiences and fans who aspire to see the Broadway and film icon in an entirely different way.
In an interview at the Sundance Film Festival where Close was promoting her new film Low Down,The Associated Press also stated that Close confirmed plans to return in a play rather than a musical even though her success with musical theatre has been renowned. Close explained, “The world that it is in is a world I know very well. It’s just a very complex play. It’s very challenging. It’s like somebody said, ‘A mountain of a play.’ I’m not coming back in a musical.”
Close has been in a number of Broadway shows including, Sunset Boulevard, Death and the Maiden, and The Real Thing. The three-time Tony Award winner has also appeared in a myriad of films like Fatal Attractions, Dangerous Liaisons, and has appeared quite regularly on the FX series Damages. Although still unsure of what show Close will be joining, the excitement nonetheless is still unfolding.
