With The 2014 Grammy Awards airing this Sunday, here’s a look at each of the five songs up for Song of the Year.

1. P!nk’s third single off her sixth album, The Truth About Love, is probably one of her best songs. “Just Give Me a Reason” features fun.’s frontman, Nate Ruess as he sings alongside P!nk in this emotional ballad about ending a relationship.

2. In the summer of 2013, Katy Perry released “Roar” as the first single from her third album, Prism. The song brought out the eye of the tiger in everyone as it quickly became an inspirational hit.

3. Independent artists Macklemore & Ryan Lewis surprised music-lovers everywhere with “Same Love.” The song, off their debut album, The Heist, features Mary Lambert. It received much praise for its gender equality message.

4. Bruno Mars once again proves that he has pop music eating right out of his hand. “Locked Out of Heaven” was the first single off his sophomore album, Unorthodox Jukebox.

5. As a new artist, Lorde hit it out of the park with her first single, “Royals.” In the song, she sings about not having a glamorous life, but still feeling royal. The song’s simplicity makes it a top contender for the category.
