It was nearly a year ago, but people are still talking about the moment that Jennifer Lawrence tripped on the Oscars stage and subsequently became America’s Sweetheart. In a new interview, this time with W Magazine, the American Hustle star explained what word she was thinking of that caused the now famous trip.
Lawrence told the magazine that she was hoping that picking up the Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook would be a “cakewalk,” which is why she had the world stuck in her head.
“I was at the Oscars, waiting to hear if my name was called, and I kept thinking, Cakewalk, cakewalk, cakewalk. I thought, Why is ‘cakewalk’ stuck in my head?” she explained, notes Vanity Fair. “And then, as I started to walk up the stairs and the fabric from my dress tucked under my feet, I realized my stylist had told me, ‘Kick, walk, kick, walk.’”
Apparently, Lawrence forgot that her stylist advised her to kick, then walk... not “cakewalk.”
“You are supposed to kick the dress out while you walk, and I totally forgot because I was thinking about cake! And that’s why I fell,” she revealed.
Lawrence’s interview appears in W Magazine’s movie issue, which includes interviews with Matthew McConaughey, Amy Adams, Oprah Winfrey, Cate Blanchett and Lupita Nyong’o, notes E! News. All those celebrities have one thing in common - they are receiving awards buzz for their performances in 2013.
