Justin Bieber and his attorneys decided not to wait until his set arraignment date on Valentine’s Day and entered a not guilty plea for the singer in his Miami Beach DUI case. The results of his toxicology report were released as well, showing that he had a blood-alcohol level below the legal limit.
Court documents said that a written plea was entered Wednesday, notes The Miami Herald. The pop star was obviously not going to be there in person, as on the same day, he turned himself in to police in Toronto for an alleged incident in December.
Florida law does not require Bieber to attend the arraignment. In addition to DUI, he is also being charged with driving with an expired license and resisting arrest.
Meanwhile, TMZ did obtain a copy of his toxicology report, which did show drugs in his system on Jan. 23, when he was arrested. He tested positive for THC and Alprazolam, an ingredient in Xanax. He also tested positive for marijuana and he did reportedly admit to the police that he had been smoking pot. Cocaine, meth and other drugs were not found in his system.
The Herald reports that Beiber was tested for alcohol in his system four times. The first two alcohol breath tests were invalid, but the last two both showed that he was way under the legal limit, even for underage drivers. His results were .014 and .011, respectively, and the legal limit for underage drivers in Florida is .08.
