Kate Gosselin has taken to Twitter to defend her daughters for the awkward television moment that transpired on Thursday morning during their appearance on the Today Show.
The twins; Cara and Mady, 13, clammed up when co-host Savannah Guthrie asked them to tell viewers how they’ve been doing since their exit from their TLC reality show, but Gosselin, 38, is chalking it up to a case of stage fright.
She first thanked NBC’s Today for having them on, and wrote, “1st live interview can render even the gabbiest girls speechless :)”
Thanks to @TODAYshow for having Cara, Mady and me on the show today! 1st live interview can render even the gabbiest girls speechless 🙂

Gosselin then responded to a fan who wrote “Typical 13 year olds. They talk non stop when you don't want them to but when you want them to speak they clam up,” by writing “LOL. So very true!!! I'm proud of them, taking this opp! They were so excited but caught off guard by live tv! :)”

There were of course those who thought the appearance meant the girls weren’t ready to be on television again, with one person even suggesting it was an “opportunity” for the mom of eight.
“It was an opportunity for Kate to get her face back on tv for nothing,” said one Twitter user. Another user sarcastically wrote, “They are OBVIOUSLY ready to be on TV again. They made that very clear. Good job Mom!”
