The Cleveland Cavaliers have been having a disappointing season so far this year and rumors are starting to arise saying that their all-star point guard, Kyrie Irving, is unhappy in Cleveland and wants to play for another team. The rumors started earlier this week saying that he has been telling people that he is unhappy with his current team and wants out. Irving shot down those rumors when asked about them after the Cavs suffered a blow out loss to the New York Knicks Thursday night.
Irving told reporters that he enjoys going out and competing for the Cavs. He says that he has a great relationship with the Cavs' front office and Coach Mike Brown and that he is happy to be in Cleveland and plans on being there for a long time, according to ESPN.
Irving is in his third year in the NBA and is still under his rookie contract with Cleveland. According to NBC Sports, if he and the Cavs do not agree on an extension before the end of next season he will become a restricted free agent allowing the Cavs to match any offer he gets from another team. The soonest Irving can become an unrestricted free agent, making him free to sign with any team, is 2016.
Whether or not these rumors are true, Kyrie Irving will still be a Cleveland Cavalier for at least a few more years.
