After playing major league baseball for 15 years, first baseman Lance Berkman has decided to call it quits on his career.
Berkman, 37, played most of his career with the Houston Astros and posted consistent numbers. According to MLB, Berkman averaged 30 home runs, 34 doubles and 95 walks over the first 12 years of his career.
He also averaged a .410 on base percentage. Although he never won a World Series in Houston, he was part of the 2005 Astros team that won their first National League pennant in franchise history before getting swept by the Chicago White Sox.
After getting traded to the New York Yankees in the middle of the 2010 season, Berkman fulfilled his dream of winning a World Series in 2011 when he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals and hit 31 home runs with 94 runs batted in and a .301 batting average, earning him National League Comeback Player of the Year honors.
Berkman's individual accomplishments earned him six National League All-Star trips. Over his career, he batted .293 with 366 home runs and 1,234 RBIs, according to FOXNews.
