The Lifetime original movie, Flowers in the Attic pulled in strong ratings for the network, bringing in over 6.1 million viewers.
Entertainment Weekly reported that the film averaged 2.4 million among adults 18-49 and 1.9 million women 18-49.
Flowers, stared Ellen Burstyn, Kiernan Shipka, Mason Dye and Heather Graham. The movie was the telling of V.C. Andrews’ controversial 1979 book with the same title. Kayla Alpert, who is known for her work onUp All Night wrote the script and Deborah Chow directed Flowers.
This was the strongest showing for an original film since Steel Magnolias, which had 6.5 million viewers, Deadline reported.
Flowers was even a huge topic on Twitter, as it was the second-most talked about topic next to the Screen Actors Guild Awards, according to SocialGuide.
The film will be shown again on Saturday at 10 PM, which will be immediately following Lizzie Borden Took An Ax which stars Christina Ricci and is another Lifetime original.
Lifetime is already in development of a second film based on another Andrews' novel.
