When Lorde and her family returned to New Zealand on Tuesday, she was less than thrilled when the paparazzi were there, trying to get a picture of her.
According to Entertainment Wise , she tweeted, “NZ media almost pushed over myself and my family at the airport this morning in order to get their shots. Bit of a sad welcome if I’m honest.” She later deleted that message, and quickly said that, "There is a difference between attn from fans, which i love, and the constant, often lecherous gaze that i'm subjected to in this industry."
The Grammy winner, like other teenage singers, has a hard time with her life being public. She says she understands that she knows being successful comes with a hefty price tag.
Lorde rose to fame when her song “Royals” blew up. Fans see the singer as a breath of fresh air as her lyrics are not about partying, and alcohol, and as she calls out entertainers like Selena Gomez, and Taylor Swift. NY Daily News reports that, Swift and Lorde have become fast friends, even after Lorde said she didn’t like Swift.
