Since Lorde's Grammys wins had some wondering whether or not the New Zealand singer was actually the age she claimed to be, one website decided to go ahead and find out for themselves.
To head the rumors off before they could continue to build, The Hairpin ordered a copy of Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor's birth certificate to settle everything easily. For $17.02 in New Zealand dollars, the country provided a copy that showed Lorde was indeed 17 as she was born on Nov. 7, 1996.
The singer herself knew about the whispers and joked with Vanity Fair that "I'm actually 45."
Lorde won two Grammys on Sunday, one for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for her hit single "Royals."
It was announced on Wednesday that the 17-year-old would be performing at the upcoming BRIT awards. At the London awards show, Lorde will be joined on the stage by electronic duo Disclosure.
The BRIT awards have already announced the Critics' Choice Award ahead of the Feb. 19 ceremony, with Sam Smith winning the award.
