Madonna is facing some backlash after posting a photo on Instagram that features her 13 year old son Rocco holding a bottle of liquor.
The “Like a Virgin” singer captioned the photo of Rocco and two of his friends, also holding liquor, “The party has just begun! Bring it! 2014.”
The picture was taken while the family was on vacation in the Swiss Alps, where the drinking age is younger than it is in the U.S. but still not 13. In the United States it’s 21, and it’s 16 in Switzerland.
Madonna has since posted another photo of Rocco and a friend without the liquor bottles, writing “No one was drinking we were just having fun! Calm down and get a sense of humor! Don't start the year off with judgement!
E! Online notes Madonna’s ex-husband, Guy Ritchie, who is Rocco’s father, has previously talked about her mothering skills and he had nothing but nice things to say about her.
"She's a good mother. Yes. That's all I have to say," he told Ellen DeGeneres in 2012. "She's very strict, but in a good way."
