The star-filled cast of Off-Broadway’s Threepenny Opera was recently just announced and will feature a wide array of talent from Emmy and Oscar award winning actors, to idolized Broadway veterans. F. Murray Abraham, Michael Park, and Laura Osnes are just a few of the stars set to perform in the run.
According to Variety, The Atlantic Theater Company is set to open the eight-week limited engagement run beings previews on March 12, officially opening on April 7. The cast is set to also include Broadway star Rick Holmes known for his roles in Peter and The Starcatcher as well as Monty Python’s Spamalot and Sally Murphy from August: Osage County.
Broadway.com reports that Osnes, who will soon be leaving her reigns as Cinderella to pop star Carly Rae Jepson, will be playing Polly Peachum, Park will take on the role of Macheath, Abraham as Mr. Peachum, and Murphy will be portraying the role of Jenny.
With musical direction by Gary Fagin, sound design by Clive Goodwin, and an all-star cast, the Threepenny Opera, based on The Beggar’s Opera, follows the story of Macheath in his criminal ways and relationship woes and milestones throughout the scape of London. The show will open in downtown Gotham at Atlantic’s usual performance space.
