Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf has appealed a New Jersey court ruling which ordered him and his family to pay $100 million in damages and legal fees.
According to the Associated Press, Wilf, his brother Mark and cousin Leonard filed an appeal Wednesday in the New Jersey Superior Court's Appellate Division.
The court ruled that the three had committed fraud, violated civil state racketeering laws and tried to fleece former business partners of shared revenue.
The civil case, over a botched deal to develop an apartment complex in the state, has spanned over the two decades.
The family’s attorney, Peter Harvey, told the AP that the Wilf’s case was not handled properly.
"This case was badly mismanaged," said Harvey "The case is an example of trial proceedings out of control."
The Wilf’s appeal will buy them more time in this already drawn-out case. Briefs from both sides are due throughout the spring, notes Eyewitness News 5 in Minnesota.
The 63-year-old Wilf has been the principal owner of the Vikings since 2005.
