NBC announced that they have extended the popular soap opera, Days of Our Lives, making it possible for Days fans to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary.
Jennifer Salke, president of NBC Entertainment told The Hollywood Reporter, “Days of our Lives continues to be a fan favorite for the daytime audience and we are thrilled to keep it going through its 50th season. Days has shown year-to-year increases in key female demographics and remains both relevant and fresh creatively due to the hard work of the producers, writers, cast and crew who have worked tirelessly to make Days the ratings success it is today.
Favorable Nielsen ratings were noted during the last renewal period. Throughout the years, the numbers were particularly impressive among a young female audience, according to Variety.
Days of Our Lives is currently renewed through Sept. 2016. The show first premiered in 1965, and then expanded to an hour long show. Days of our Lives is produced by Corday Productions Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television.
